Night flights over Highclere

We have more details on the bad news which you may have seen in the NWN. The CAA has approved NATS air space (know as R41 to its friends!) change proposal that allows night flights at the lower levels of about 6000 feet.

There will be limitations on the hours of operation as follows:

 MorningsEvenings
Summer0545 - 09301730 - 2130
Winter0630 - 0930 

We are assured (for now?) that the R41 airspace should not be used after 2130 regardless of activity at Southampton and Bournemouth airports.

The campaign was well fought at all levels particularly by Alan Cox and Johnny Johnson of Ashmansworth, the two Borough Councillors Horace Mitchell and Clive Saunders, and Sir George Young our MP. My thanks go also to the Society members who gave generously to the campaign fund. Unfortunately it was always a difficult battle because airspace is outside the normal planning system.
