Don't forget to keep filling the collection box at the entrance path to Westridge Studio, Andover Road with:

Over 140 Walk for Charity

walkers at Jack Russell

On a cold and bright wintry morning on the 27th December, over 140 walkers from Highclere and surrounding villages met up for their 24th Annual Charity Christmas Walk. This year the event was raising funds for The Stroke Association and was centred in Faccombe, by kind permission of Faccombe Estates and as usual it was organised by members of the local luncheon group, Los Jubilados, in co-operation with Highclere Society. Halfway around the four-mile walk, mince pies and mulled wine were served and at the end, the walkers had the opportunity of lunching at the Jack Russell pub. A grand total of over £470 was raised for The Stroke Association all in all a very successful day."

Finally a very sad note

Phyllis Macklin, wife of Bernard, died in Basingstoke Hospital on Sunday 30th November.

She and Bernard joined the Society very early in its life.

Together they helped raise a few thousand pounds over the years by running the raffles at our annual BBQs and Wine Tasting and we are very grateful.

Our sympathy goes to Bernard who is in our thoughts at this time.
