Highclere Society Golf Day

Sixteen players turned up at the Hampshire Golf Club on the 5th October for the sixth Society day and the second of the year. I think we can now say we have a Golf Society within a Society. The turn out was good even though we had a few players on holiday. The weather was wet however with no wind, for which we give thanks, not ideal for golf. The scores however did not reflect the conditions, with 7 players scoring 36 points or above. At lunch Patrick Hedgeland joined us, to present the prizes.

The overall winner was a newcomer to the group, Nick Haste who scored an amazing 44 points; his handicap will be adjusted! Prizes also went to Terry Watt for nearest the pin and Peter Whitworth for the longest drive. Special prizes were awarded to Graham Falconer, Derek Gandy and Jeremy Irwin.

Our thanks go to Ian Briggs for promoting the golf days.

The next Golf Society day will be in the Spring 2009.
