Highclere Society Golf Day

Twenty players turned up at Ogbourne Downs Golf Club on the 12th April for the seventh golf Society day. The turnout was the best so far and we even had a few players on holiday.

The weather was fine. However the wind was cold and strong blowing as it does on the Marlborough Downs. The scores however did reflect the conditions, with only two players scoring over 30 points. At lunch Patrick Hedgeland joined us, to present the prizes.

The overall winner was Peter Drummond who scored a very credible 42, points. Prizes also went to Nick Haste for the longest drive. Unfortunately the prize for nearest the pin was unclaimed, as due to the wind, the small green and the pin placement no ball stayed on the green, however 4 golfers did hit the green and bounced off. Special prizes were awarded to Brian Count and Bill Vince. Our thanks go to Ian Briggs for promoting the golf days.

The next Golf Society day will be in the autumn 2010.
