No Cold Calling Zone

A note from the Parish Clerk to remind everyone of the reason for our No Cold Calling Zone:

“I have spoken to Trading Standards. There are 800 No Cold Calling Zones, covering 45,000 homes. The scheme is about the empowerment of residents, acts as a deterrent to some traders and is respected by legitimate traders.

It is not illegal to cold call; it does not ban cold callers; residents can take the name of traders or van registrations and report them to the police/trading standards while the cold caller is still there. Cold calling only covers people knocking doors or engaging with residents. It does not cover leafleting which is judged to be unsolicited mailing.”

Local Policing Priorities

Your local Neighbourhood Policing Team needs your help in setting the local Community Policing Priorities for your new policing area, for the 3 months from April 2015. In order to focus our resources effectively in the community the police need you to tell them the issues that are affecting you the most. The aim is to reduce anti-social behaviour and crime as well as to make your neighbourhood a safe place to live and work.

Please spare just 5 minutes to complete the survey to give the police a clear understanding of the issues that matter to you. (Editor's note: the survey is now closed)

Follow the above link to complete just 8 short questions and have your say.

The current community Policing priorities for this area are:

Palm Sunday Procession

Once again, our thanks go to Nigel and Janet Taylor who have kindly agreed to host the event at The Shieling, Hollington Lane, Highclere.
