Below are selected items from our July newsetter. Members of the society receive the full newsletter and other regular updates by email ahead of them appearing on this website.

Highclere Society Summer Barbecue

The Highclere Society Summer Barbecue was held on Sunday 26th June. Our thanks this year go to Phil and Sally for hosting the event at their lovely home and gardens.

120 Society members enjoyed the occasion, the food and the drink. We were fortunate with the weather, the rain did not fall until 4.30pm. The welcome drink of Pimms, which has become a firm favourite, went down very well. The BBQ was provided by Gary Lemon of Thames Valley Meats and his team did a tremendous job. The children were entertained with various games.

These events do not happen without a great deal of hard work, so our thanks go to the committee and also the many helpers who came forward over three days to erect gazebos and tents, deliver furniture, prepare food, decorate tables etc. Not forgetting those who helped to clear up and dismantle!

The raffle prizes sourced by Christine Leah were superb and raised £550 for the Society’s chosen charity, the National Osteoporosis Society. Many thanks for the most generous raffle prizes donated by:

Penwood Nurseries :: The Yew Tree Restaurant :: Sandford Springs Golf Club
The Carnavon Arms :: Esseborne Manor Hotel :: Jennifer Boulton
The Rampant Cat :: Phil and Sally Wrigley :: Bernard Macklin
Neil and Christine Leah (CN Sales, Highclere).
