This year's Autumn Golf Tournament was at Donnington Valley Golf club on the 26th September. The weather was kind to us apart from a couple of small showers. However, the 12 players competed very well and produced a number of good scores. The course was in excellent condition especially the greens.

The overall winner was Peter Sharp with 37 points, a very good score, Prizes also went to Mike Sparvell for the nearest to the pin and Stephen Suttie for the longest drive. Special prizes were awarded to Mike Sparvell and Bill Vince.

The next Golf Society day will be in the Spring 2017

Potholes

Potholes We have been asked by a member to publicise the need to put more pressure on Hampshire County Council to keep our roads in a good condition. If you know of any problems you may wish to send an email to Tom Thacker, our County Councillor at tom.thacker@hants.gov.uk. You can also report directly on the Hants CC website (link below).

I have paraphrased some of his reply to one of our members:

"I am asking the Hampshire area engineer to inspect the main road between Newbury (Wash Common) and Ball Hill that you mention and am asking him to report to me on the condition. I can then discuss with Hampshire Highways how any remedial work needs to be prioritised, in the context of the very large cuts in central government funding that we are having to work with.

Potholes are repaired, once the County Council is aware of them; residents can report potholes and their exact location, and track the progress, via the following link www3.hants.gov.uk/roadproblems.

I would be grateful if you would also identify the minor roads in the parish which were resurfaced and where you report that the contractors didn't bother to repairs any potholes or verges and that you point out that with the resurfacing has just made things worse. I can then look into these matters with the area engineer."
