Annual Wine Quiz

Unusually, this close to the event, we have places still available for just £12 a ticket. Guests are welcome at £15 each. Either book individually and we will make up tables to help you meet new people or book a table as a group.

For those that have never been, the tasting quiz takes the form of "Call my bluff" with three 'expert' judges offering their differing opinions on the details of each wine. You taste the wine and each table votes which judge is right and guesses the price of a bottle. A prize will go to the highest scoring table. It is a challenge for wine buffs and good fun for the rest of us.

The profits this year will be split between our two charities, Loose Ends Newbury and Arthritis Research UK.

To book, please send an email to Patrick email naming all members. We do not issue tickets so please say if you require a confirmation email. At the same time, make the payment of £12 per ticket as it is only booked once paid

Highclere Christmas Carol Singers

carol singers

In fair weather around 28 Highclere Carol Singers including many new faces and two grandchildren set off around the village singing carols and collecting donations for Cancer Research. After a brief stop for refreshment on the way round we arrived at the Red House where we continued singing Carols but now to the accompanyment of the East Woodhay Silver Band, and with 3 wonderful solos by Amy.

Cancer Research has asked me to pass on their thanks to those who sang, those who provided refreshments and the band who give their time on a voluntary basis and of course all those who gave so generously helping us to raise a record £455. We look forward to seeing you all next year.

The Village Christmas Walk

walkers outside The Red House

Many thanks to those 170 people, including children and dogs who took part in the Village Charity Christmas walk this year, and thanks of course to those who marshalled or contributed help in other ways. Through your support £625 was raised, this went forward for matched funding, therefore £1,250 went to the Rosemary Appeal.

Thank you to everyone for their generosity.
