Wine Tasting Quiz

Saturday 30th March Highclere Village Hall, 8pm prompt. We can now give more details of this forthcoming popular event, for which bookings are now open.

For those that have never been, the tasting quiz takes the form of "Call my bluff" with three "expert" judges offering their differing opinions on the details of each wine. You taste the wine and guess by table who is right. A prize will go to the highest scoring table. It is a challenge for wine buffs and good fun for the rest of us.

After tasting four whites and four reds we all have a Ploughman's Supper with the chance to taste some more of the wines. All for the price of £12.50 a ticket. Profits go to Alzheimer's, our chosen charity for 2019. Initial bookings are limited to members only. If we still have space nearer the date it will then be open to your guests.

Either book a table of any size (six works well), or book individually and we will make up tables. Please be in place ready to start by 8pm sharp. As usual places are only booked once payment is received, so please make the payment of £12.50 per ticket and at the same time send an email naming all members attending. Contact the chairman for payment details.

News from Westridge Studio

We have had planning permission granted, architect plans drawn up and accepted. The project has been put out to tender and four builders have given their quotes. We are now in dialogue with two of the builders, discussing their costings - paring them back where appropriate.

We are not far from meeting our financial target but some more effort is required to get there. We have secured a LIF grant from Basingstoke and Deane District Council for £80,000. The sub committee in charge of grants are also looking to secure more from other working bodies - this however, takes a considerable amount of work, time and patience.

We are all excited that this project is near to coming to fruition. If you have the inclination to organise an event with friends please do so, your help will be invaluable with this. It is vital to ensure further grants.
